Grainger & Worrall achieves ISO/TS16949 standard for automotive quality excellence

Precision-casting technology provider, Grainger & Worrall, has achieved ISO/TS 16949 certification for automotive quality excellence. An acclaimed international management standard, ISO certification is awarded to organisations demonstrating exceptional process delivery when developing, manufacturing, installing or servicing automotive products.

Ensuring robust systems, minimisation of product variation, and a corporate commitment to minimising waste in the supply chain, compliance enables organisations to trade across the globe, marking their products and services as certified by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF).

Alongside an evaluation of Grainger & Worrall’s bespoke automotive quality management system, third-party auditing by Lloyds Register LRQA saw business systems, processes and product control strictly examined at the company’s two sites in Bridgnorth and Telford. Going forwards, this system will be utilised across the business to guarantee production excellence, alongside continuous process improvement.

Edward Grainger, director at Grainger & Worrall, commented: “As the global leader in precision-casting technology provision, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of innovation and bringing a new approach to the high-volume supply-chain. Working with some of the world’s leading automotive brands, we have already transformed the marketplace, setting new standards of capability, performance, process and excellence.

“Achieving ISO/TS 16949 certification not only furthers our reputation for technical innovation and exceptional customer delivery, but will also enable us to utilise our capabilities within the low-carbon transport of tomorrow. The announcement is excellent news and will help Grainger & Worrall to realise our goal of leading the way in global OEM supply.”

ISO/TS 16949 can be applied throughout the supply chain in the automotive industry. Certification pursuant to ISO/TS 16949 is intended to build up or enforce the confidence of a (potential) customer towards the system and process quality of a (potential) supplier. Today, a supplier without a valid certificate has little chance of supplying a Tier 1 business and certainly no chance of providing a car manufacturer with standard parts. Certification will run across Grainger & Worrall’s two UK sites – its headquarters in Bridgnorth, alongside the company’s dedicated machining facility in Telford.
