Laboratory Technician / GW Engineering – Worcester; 39 hours per week / Job Ref: GW544

The Postholder’s duties will include micrographic sample preparation, component sectioning & preparation for metallurgical/ failure investigations. Duties also include NDT inspections including dye penetrant inspection, real time x-ray inspections, wet film x-ray results inspection and CT scan reporting.

The successful applicant will have a strong research orientation, proven through either education or experience, basic experience of NDT testing of metal castings and will be proficient in Microsoft Office. Knowledge of health and safety legislation as it applies to the role, as are successful completion a RoSPA certified manual handling training course (or equivalent qualification) and completion of Health, Safety & Environmental awareness training. The successful applicant will have completed crane slinger, bobcat and/or overhead crane training (or other training required in the role), as necessary, and will have good communication skills, both verbal and written. Experience of micrographic sample preparation is desirable for this role, as are experience of component sectioning & preparation for metallurgical/ failure investigations, strong engineering bias and an NVQ level 2 certificate or above in a relevant subject (or equivalent qualification).

Quality Technician x 2 / GW Engineering – Worcester; 39 hours per week worked on a flexible shift working basis in accordance with the needs of the business. Job Ref: GW546

The Postholder’s duties will include conducting quality audits of process and product, supporting scrap and rework reporting and analysis, attending a daily scrap review and leading PDI activity related to metrology inspection of product using standard measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers, height gauges and micrometers.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of health and safety legislation as it applies to the role, will have successfully completed a RoSPA certified manual handling training course (or equivalent qualification) and will have completed Health, Safety & Environmental awareness training. Competence in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel & PowerPoint is required for this role, as are a strong quality orientation, knowledge of castings and base quality experience. Relevant industry experience of cast and machined parts inspection employing all commonly used engineering inspection equipment is desirable, as is an NVQ level 2 certificate or above in a relevant subject (or equivalent qualification).

Production Operative x 10 / GW Engineering – Worcester; 39 hours per week worked on dayshift, lateshift or a flexible shift working basis in accordance with the needs of the business. Job Ref: GW548

Vacancies have arisen for Production Operatives to work on the dayshift, on the lateshift and on a flexible shift working basis in accordance with the needs of the business. Foundry experience is desirable for this role.

CMM Programmer / GW Machining – Bridgnorth, 37.5 hours per week on a flexible shift working basis in accordance with the needs of the business / Job Ref: GW556

The Postholder will be responsible for writing CMM programs from both 2d and 3d data using PCDMIS, Quindos and Mitutoyo Geopak software, selecting suitable probes and attachments for the CMM to ensure accurate and efficient measurement of components, and generating clear and concise CMM reports which display all customer and manufacturing required outputs. Other responsibilities include analysing CMM reports and communicating any non-conforming measured features and features which are moving towards the limits of tolerance and liaise with production staff to correct any such issues, providing training to production operatives on the operation of the CMM’s for running jobs, and compiling corrective action reports for non-conforming products and liaising with production staff to ensure correction of any out-of-specification features.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of inspection of machined parts whilst employing a wide range of measurement techniques mainly CMM but including, Shadow Graph and all generally used engineering inspection tools, a good working knowledge of PCDMIS preferably for DEA CMM machines, proven experience of meeting customer deadlines and experience of creating detailed instructions, control plans and standard working procedures. Relevant industry experience of machined parts inspection employing all commonly used engineering inspection equipment is required for this role, as is a good understanding of customer and engineering requirements. A working knowledge of Quindos and Geopak is desirable for this role.
