Precision Machining £1.25 Million Investment Program

World-leading castings and machining solutions provider, Grainger & Worrall, has expanded its portfolio of manufacturing capabilities by investing in an additional twin pallet 5-axis CNC machine.

Its arrival marks the culmination of a £1.25 million investment in equipment and infrastructure at the company’s facility in Telford, Shropshire. In fact, this expenditure has been part of an ongoing programme over the last two years which has seen Grainger & Worrall spend more than £6 million at its Shropshire premises.

Mark Davies, group manager of Grainger & Worrall Machining, said: “Over the past four years we have doubled the work force and enjoyed a five-fold increase in turnover thanks to our continuing commitment to developing the skills of our personnel and adopting the latest in machining technology to provide the best solutions for our client-base.

“We are really proud of our continued growth at Grainger & Worrall Machining. We specialise in machining complex prismatic parts for the automotive, commercial, aerospace and defence industries. The investment has not stopped in CNC machines and we have also invested in infrastructure including a new temperature controlled inspection lab, again using the latest equipment and software to ensure that we can fulfil our customers’ inspection requirements.”

Instead of working with conventional 3-axis machines, which only allow movement along the linear axes, the twin pallet 5-axis machines also facilitates movement across two rotary axes. This latest machine increases Grainger & Worrall’s existing 5-axis CNC capability and joins a comprehensive array of 4-axis, vertical and horizontal machines already in service at the Shropshire firm.

The recent investment by Grainger & Worrall is part of the company’s longstanding commitment to offering its clients pioneering total manufacturing solutions and a high level of service.
